come on mum, i got picture's to take..

My day out on the Canal was full of colour which I captured for the colour competition. Wearing my blue top for a summer day. We left house with the yellow begonias I help plant glowing like the sun. We arrived at the canal to travel down the canal on a gleaming red canal barge, pulled by horse with tufts of white in his black mane. As we glided down the canal with blue skies and passing overgrown green grassy banks, which the horse enjoyed at his rest stops. We passed green, blue and colourful barges some had hand painted pots on with colourful flowers in. We stopped for lunch and tied the boat around white stump on the bank, these looked like soldiers all lined up down the canal side, I took a picture of them all standing to attention. Me and my  brother had great day and I managed to capture the colour's all the way.. I did let mum take one photo of me and my brother having a rest reading a red book.

A Tree'mendous Prize

I recently won RHS photo competition on Heathrow Airport Facebook page for £250's worth of garden vouchers and have been out on a spending spree. I have spent 10 years developing my garden and this prize was the icing on the cake or in this case the  final trees in the garden and helped me  put the final touches to a calming scent filled country cottage garden.
We moved to the property 10 years ago our pretty large garden consisted of  one pretty large and ugly  pampas grass, there were also numerous burnt bonfire piles, buried carpets and loads of buried car parts in the garden we knew we had our work cut out to create the perfect garden blisters and skips (skip hired was comp win) later we could get started .
We used odd shaped burnt ash piles to create shrub areas where we planted evergreens which flourished.  We then set about developing our traditional country cottage garden by planting traditional plants that you would expect to find from rabbits ears, hollyhocks, foxglove, daisies, marigolds, lavender and gladioli.
We then decided we would like to turn the top end of the garden into an orchard, what makes an orchard you may ask? well 7 fruit trees makes an orchard so even with a small garden you can create an orchard by planting seven dwarf fruit trees. Our choice of fruit trees were made up of two pears, two apple, one plum, one cherry and one damson with that our orchard was complete, we fenced it off from the rest of the garden and placed our chicken house in there so our two feathered girls can roam without the fear of our Airedale chasing them around the garden for entertainment.  The fruit trees where from Garden express also Facebook competition win. Another win for garden was a large BBq and steamer  with wood burning chips.
Our garden is not finished yet (more ideas) we are now eagerly looking for a good shed we can use as an office and have the place where it will go earmarked already.
Harry gives thumbs for our choice

Cardiff..

A world of history awaits for you in CARDIFF
entered into competition just need vote thanks..
http://blog.laterooms.com/2013/05/a-world-of-history-awaits-for-you-in-cardiff/

Great we are off to Cardiff for a few nights stay ..then you come back down to earth, Cardiff  is it a city with nightlife and everything else a city has to offer, will this be a great place for us to visit with our children? well we need not have worried our accommodation was supplied by a space in the city a luxury two bed apartment on a secure gated development complete with secure underground parking and 24 hour security. If thats not your scene then you have the choice of the standard budget hotels all within easy walking distance or bus shuttle service to the city center or you have the selection of the top hotels from the Radisson to the Hilton all based a few minutes walk from the city center.
Cardiff over the last decade has undergone a massive redevelopment and it shows it is also a city that is small so easy to get around on foot and see all the great sites and attractions it has to offer .
Shops galore and you can shop until you drop all the big names are here from your everyday high street shops to the top designer shops to the lovely small independent shops all offering you an array of goods to buy .
Food and places to eat..  then you have your choices of great restaurants to snack bars to fast food takeaways from eating on a budget to the full dining experience it is all here in Cardiff. We chose Eds Diner, St Davids shopping Centre a great american theme diner  'oh happy days' yes you did expected the fonz to walk in. .served quickly with filling hot dogs and shakes. Featured I was told in a Dr Who episode, great for Dr Who fans and reasonably priced too.
Cardiff has history in abundance, it was once one of the uk's biggest docks where coal was shipped out around the world, notables famous characters who came from Cardiff were Roald Dahl.
Where to take the children well again you have a great choice from the fantastic Cardiff castle to the  Dr who experience, onto techniquest and the National museum which is free to enter and covers things from interactive room for children to art galleries. From city centre you can then follow Taff Trail marked out with pictures on the pavement to keep kids amused on the walk down to the bay area. Here you can take a speedboat ride or a leisurely cruise and finally do not forget to take a look around the millenium stadium too. Romantic weekend away to the family weekend away with loads to see, loads to do and loads of memories to take away.
I will be back and I am sure many other visitors will be too.
